2008: In Memoriam

What’s my life’s about in 2008? Let’s dig.

Choosing my scholarships. Some highlights include PETRONAS’s UTP intake, Shell’s interview call, and JPA’s interview in Kuching. I did not apply for the Shell scholarship even though they called me to sign up online. For JPA scholarship, I did apply but for the first intake, I lost to 40+ people who flew to France in just one month. I did succeeded for second intake. So, I’ll have to study in MFI for a couple of years for foundation before going to France for a Diploma, Degree and insya’allah Master. So, I’ll be returning to Malaysia in probably 2015 and I’ll be 25 years old by that time.

Old friends and new friends. In UTP, I met again my old friend, Ash and Anis, and in MFI I met Asonx and Sabri. Tons of new friends in 2008 and my address book is full in no time. I still missed my CVE UTP Jan 08 friends. Also my roommate Izzat (ko pesal?), lab mate Khairin, groupmate Syahme, tutormate Kumi, Suria, and other Sarawakians. (Really cannot deny that I was not as well accepted in Pre-France 7 as I was in CVE Foundation Jan 08 UTP @ Toronto Revolution).

Mac my theme. Knew how it looked like, my previous XP on Acer? A lot of people got confused by it. I used Flyakite OSX to make it Mac. Now I have Vista on HP, I changed the theme as I like it, Mac OS X-ish.

My blogs are my diaries. And I opened 5 blogs (WordPress for a start, then Blogger, Friendster, LiveJournal and BraveJournal) and kept some and deleted some. It really is a tough job keeping one when you don’t have internet connection. I wished for more ideas in 2009.

UCITY Bridge competition. This one is very memorable. I did it in 4 weeks, with the help of 4 amazing people, some books I borrowed from IRC, three tubes of superglue (once I had my thumb and index finger stuck together and took almost an hour to split them) and Google SketchUp. Watch the design come to life is pretty amazing. Especially when you know it got everyone talking (at least among the Foundation Studies students). We didn’t win, but I must say it’s not our fault. And we still did not get our certificate.

Electricity, Mr Mahmood and failing my physics. He’s one tough guy. Electricity is as easier than himself actually. And failing Physics for the first time is depressing.

Moving from UTP. I was a hard decision to move out of UTP, knowing that you have to pay it, but also it was my dream to go to France (well, I can go to France if I had some time in December 07). I was also a hard time accepting the fact that UTP is easier than MFI, what more if we’re in France.

SPM Result and proving everyone that I can and they are wrong. Sainsku is most probably one of the unknown SBP due to it’s low academic result, especially when our SPM is a frustration for some teachers (but I know Mr Lim is happy, isn’t he?). I got 9A1 and 1B3, I was trying to keep myself positive and it ended up well. My tests in UTP are not bad). So we X Gen Sainsku had to prove that SPM result does not show your real potential, especially when your B is EST. Hehe.

iTunes and Samsung YP-U3. I really wanted to fill up the artwork in iTunes once I installed it in my HP Pavilion. But eventually I gave up. Let the iTune gadget do it for me. My Samsung mp3 player is awesome. I liked it a lot, but the clip broke and the earphones broke down. No time to find replacements yet. Find the time first!

HP Pavilion vs iMacBook. I always wanted the cool Apple stuffs, you know, iPod, iPhone or whatever there is in the Apple store. When my mom gave me RM2000 to buy a new laptop (I assume RM1000 to pay me back), I thought of an iMacBook. The one that cost RM3999 attracted me, but should I waste my money for that piece? Eventually HP Pavilion is the solution even though many used it already (too common). My budget for 2009 is promising for an iPhone though.

Colorblindness. What’s so wrong taking engineering path if you are colorblind? You just cannot differentiate some colors, that’s all to it. The people from IUT France really saved us (me, Asonx and Ikhwan) this time. Love you guys!

Music shift. I was all about RnB and Pop, but this year I listen more to Rock songs maybe because it is the year of Rock songs. I used to Pop, so my Rock type is more to Pop-Rock Fuse – The Killers, Coldplay, Paramore, the Academy Is, Alanis Morissette, Avenged Sevenfold, Daughtry, David Cook, Fall Out Boy, Foo Fighters, The Rasmus, the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Serj Tankian, Tokio Hotel, Weezer and 30 Second to Mars filled my iTunes. Most favorite tune? Pork and Beans by Weezer, Human by Skye Sweetnam, Monsoon by Tokio Hotel, Stay by Estrella, All Around Me by Flyleaf, Decode by Paramore and Underneath by Alanis Morissette.

Enya. Many people got distracted when they listen to my mp3 player when they listened to Enya’s tracks. This includes Caribbean Blue, Water Shows the Hidden Heart, It’s In the Rain, Orinoco Flow, and lots more.

The Mole Season 5 and Reality TV. After 4 years, the series came back. I liked the show a lot but not a fan of Craig. Too obvious. With low rating, it might not return next year. Just Maybe. ANTM is nothing new, but this year, I might return back to my root, Survivor. Pison reviewed lots of things about Survivor Gabon, that I kinda realized I missed that show so much.

Family Guy. Ha Ha Ha (Stewie). Initially I found the title from Izzat’s (UTP Sem1 roommate) Friendster page. It was not until I met Muz (MFI Sem1 roommate-who was a friend of Izzat) that I can finally watch the stomach-aching series. Just maybe because I need a transition from SpongeBob. I loved how Seth McFarlene voiced a lot of character including Peter, Stewie, Brian and Quagmire. And I was shocked that Cleveland is white. Plus, the man that voiced Cleveland also voiced Herbert! Another one is that Mila Kunis is no Meg, she’s hottttt! One question though, why Adam West voiced his own dumb character?
